I am archiving some of the questions people ask me most about India Cracked, in the hope that I will not have to answer them again over email.

Q. Why did you start India Cracked?
A. (1) I was bored after axing Nerdy India Project and wanted to so something.(2)I was shocked by the number of India sites getting defaced regularly and the apathy towards system security among India audience.

Q. Who runs India Cracked?
A. India Cracked in a personal project of me, Srijith.K. As of now, I am the only one involved in the running of PIC. I however use alldas.de and safemode.org mails for getting notification of defacements.

Q. "You cheap bugger.. you are just leeching on work of others"
A. Yes, I am. I need defacement from groups to keep this site running. However as far as this project is concerned, I will be most happy when I am in a situation to take it down because of inactivity. I do use attrition.org, defaced.alldas.de and safemode for my defacement mirror links. Yes I admit it. All I do it present it in a concise manner and comment a bit on the 'hacking' scene around India websites.

Q. Why don't you link to work done by Indian'hackers' against Pak based sites?
A. This project as such, as of now, does not aim to chronicle the Indo-Pak cyber war. I do not have the time,money and techincal resources need for that. Maybe later, but not now.

Q."I defaced an India sites. I had sent you an URL. Why don't you link it up?"
A. India Cracked does not do direct defacement mirroring. I use links to defaced.alldas.de , safemode.org and attrition.org for chronicling the attacks. This is because, as said above, I don't have the man power and other resources(time, hard disk space etc.) to do it. So, send email to any of the above defacement mirror site. When they mirror it, I will link it.

Q. "Can I quote you from the website or from email you have sent me?"
A. You can quote me as long as you ask me permission and I give it. Even though my website has comments made by me, I still own them (© by me, in short). To use them in your articles, you have to get my persmission. All things found on web are not free to use for any purpose. Please keep that in mind. As far as emails are concerned, as a rule email sent by me to you on any matter related to India Cracked cannot be quoted per say. Ask me. I have been misquoted and I do not like it.

Q. 'I want to quote you. Who do I say you are?'
A. Quote me as 'Srijith.K, founder of Project India Cracked' and if possible, an URL pointer to Project India Cracked (http://www.srijith.net/indiacracked/) would be great.

Q. "Can you send me the email addresses of some of the groups defacing Indian websites?"
A. No. I am not their spokesman. Almost all the groups include their email address on the defaced website which can be found at the mirrors. Please look there.

Q. "You said in your website that X number of Indian sites have been defaced. But I read from somewhere that the number is much higher. What do you say about that?"
A. I link to all defacements I get news about through attrition.org, alldas.de and safemode.org. This includes not just the TLD ".in". However, these mirror sites have some rules regading what kind of defacements they consider proper and worthy of mention. Some important rules light be like (*) Re-defacements done within x days will not be considered. (*)IPs that does not resolve to domain names are not accepted.(*)Dynamic DNS system defacements etc. Hence the actual number of defacements that have happened will definitely be more than what I quote. But that is how it will be since I rely on these mirrors and their strict policies for authentic defacements.

Q. 'I got an email from Project India Cracked saying that my site has been defaced. Why did I get the email? Did you do it?'
A.Why did you get the email? Most probably because, you are the sysadmin/webmaster/technical contact for an Indian site that has been defaced. I send emails only when I see that the actual site is still in the defaced state. This is just to inform the admin that the site has been defaced. I did not break in to your site. I have no connection with the group that defaced the site. If you think you do not need to be informed when you site is broken into, email me and I will never email an alert to you again.
