Idea for Amazon wishlist feature

Amazon has a wish-list feature. (This is mine). In short, the way it works is that if my friend A wants to buy me a gift, he can check my list and buy from there. Cool. But I wish this could be taken a bit further. Suppose, there is a way in which my friends B and C (who doesn't want to spend as much as A) can contribute partially toward the price of the book. Say, the price of the book is $30. B contributes $10, C contributes $20. There you go, I have my book and neither B or C overspent.
More than friends buying gifts, this method can be used a variation of "Donateware", i.e. if a user is happy with one of my software, instead of paying $1 etc via paypal, he can contribute in buying me a book I want.
What do you guys think?
