Fun with MPI
[Software] @ 11:43 PM

I have been playing around with some parallel processing codes using Message Passing Interface (MPI). it is great fun. I have been using the school's 64 node Linux cluster that is codenamed Tembusu. Each node of the cluster consists of two 1.4GHz Intel PIII CPUs with 1GB of memory. There was some hickups while I figured out the basic of MPI on my own (in other words, a lot of CPU intensive deadlocks!), but things are looking good now.

Boston Public
[Musings] @ 09:37 AM

I wonder why no one seems to watch Boston Public. It is a damn good serial that focuses on the happenings at a public school in U.S. Amusing, serious, gripping and thought provoking, this serial had me glued to the T.V yesterday when one of the teachers decided to take the word "Nigger" heads on.

What is so disheartening is that the drama unfolds at 12 midnight in Singapore's Channel 5. That is really a very late time for such a popular serial. How I wish it was somewhere around 8 or 9 in the night..

MSc. presentation over
[Misc.] @ 06:54 AM

At last, the presentation of my Masters thesis work is over. Titled "Improving the performance of TCP Vegas and TCP SACK: Investigations and Solutions", the work looks at the performance of TCP SACK and TCP Vegas and tried to improve the performance by making changes to the algorithm or the packet format.
