Implementation of content sensitive Aggie
[Software]
@ 07:12 PM
Some days ago I posted an idea of mine titled "Further on context sensitive RSS aggies". The idea in short was to make an RSS aggregator system that is intelligent enough to try and guess/learn the need/demand of the user. First of all I think that, instead of the original description of "context sensitive", "content sensitive" sounds more appropriate.
After hacking for the last two days, I have finished a fair bit of the coding of what I call "Intelli-Aggie". The "Categorizing module" is in and so is the "relevance module". The display module is mostly done. More work needs to be done on the "Cleanup module" that removes old and uninteresting news from the db.
The initial result? More than what I thought I could get. With just 7 feeds (a total of 94 news items), 15 keywords and 8 categories, the result is impressive. A lot more can be improved by adding more keywords and tweaking the algo parameters a bit to suit my tastes.
Screenshots coming tomorrow once I clean up the UI and make it a bit more palatable.

D. Weinberger's weblog is carrying a post that recounts how the history stored in the Microsoft Word document was used to expose the liars in the British government - Joho the Blog: Busted.
