According to President Bush's former Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neill, planning for an invasion of Iraq began in January of 2001, "within days of President Bush's inauguration".
O'Neill states in an interview for an upcoming book that he was shocked that in a Cabinet meeting regarding the planned invasion of Iraq, not a single member of the Cabinet questioned why Iraq should be invaded. "It was all about finding a way to do it. That was the tone of it. The president saying 'Go find me a way to do this,'" O'Neill says.
