Catching up and SST
[Misc.] @ 06:41 AM

Mosque in Brunei I was in Brunei the last couple of days on work related matters and am still catching up on news and blogs. Man, it really is difficult to catch up with all of them even after such a small backlog. I ended up glancing through each headline for a second or two before deciding to delete it or save them for further examination. This experience reminds me how important it is to give relevant and interesting titles to blog and news entries. The brain tackles information overload by summarily dismissing any uninteresting headings, so even if your entry might be ground breaking and trend setting, giving it a lousy title just blows away any readership.

Every time I travel I get reminded of Singapore Standard Time (GMT+8 time)'s peculiarity.

Nowadays what time is it really depends more on the lawyers, economists, politicians and businessmen and much less on the astronomers, geographers, surveyors, mathematicians and scientists like in the 19th century and before.
