Gmail Beta - lame

Call me a sore 'non-elite' if you like, but I find Google's Gmail elitist beta drive lame and disgusting. As Dave Winer says:
I'm sorry this is lame. All the publicity about Gmail, and if you want an account, you do what?
One of my friends just dropped in while I was typing this entry and asked me what I would have said if I had been selected for the beta. "Feel like a elite, but I still would brand it lame and disgusting."
