Security EngineeringA very comprehensive and carefully researched book on security from an engineer's point of view, not just a computer scentist or cryptographer's point of view - that is Security Engineering by Ross Anderson.

The author looks at security in various forms - from the typical Alice and Bob talking to each other securily, to security of currency notes and the security smart cards and DRM issues like DVD encryption and how human ingenuity has time and again come up with ways to work around security restrictions in place. The greatest point of the books is that even though it approaches security from such a broad perspective, it never goes in tangent nor does it bore reads to death by being too academic or theoretical about the subject. A great read for everyone interested in security - pros to layman.
