After a long time, a great Hindi movie. Amazing acting by Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan. Have heard that "My Brother...Nikhil" and "Page 3" are also great movies. The Hindi movie scene seems to be waking up after a big lull.
Given that I liked Ghost in the Shell, it may come as no surprise that I found "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" a remarkably narrated anime. Frankly classifying these two movies as anime doesn't do them justice, for they are much more than what one expects from a youth oriented anime. As the director Mamoru Oshii says, he wanted to make an anime for the old (and chuckles after he says that).
The attention given to details in the movie as well as the sound effects are amazing. You must see it on a 5.1 channel Hi-Fi to enjoy it fully. The story continues from where GiTS 1 left off. Maj. Motoko Kusanagi having merged into the Net. She becomes a sort of guardian angel to Batou, helping him get to the bottom of the case of malfunctioning gynoids.
The DVD however is a bit of a disappointment - no English track and poor captions+ subtitles (I really can't see why they feel the need to add things like "faint footsteps" and "creaking door" into the subtitles. We are not deaf!).
Surya has a nice writeup on sights around Duesseldorf. It is very interesting to contrast the moods of the inhabitants during winter and spring.
