The editor of Linux Today, Brian Proffitt is speculating that Windows Visa might be released as a free (as in beer) upgrade for Windows XP users. Very interesting theory indeed and come to think of it, very possible! The next couple of days will reveal it all. Is this what Robert Scoble was referring to when he said:
But now it's time to change the world. Again.
Go ahead, accuse me of hyperbole. Of FUD. Of mud throwing. Whatever. Let's get together for beers next week and you look me in the eye and tell me that I overhyped this PDC.
If you are a Firefox user and is using a version <= 1.5 beta1, do take note of this pretty serious bug and a temporary solution:
Type about:config into the address field and hit Enter.
In the Filter toolbar, type network.enableIDN.
Right click on the the network.enableIDN item and select toggle to change value to false.
The New York Times is covering the phenomenon of outsourced tuitions, which I had earlier mentioned in this post.
Ms. Salin is part of a new wave of outsourcing to India: the tutoring of American students. Twice a week for a month now, Ms. Salin, who grew up speaking the Indian language Malayalam at home, has been tutoring Daniela in English grammar, comprehension and writing.
Using a simulated whiteboard on their computers, connected by the Internet, and a copy of Daniela's textbook in front of her, she guides the teenager through the intricacies of nouns, adjectives and verbs.
I just couldn't think of any other category than "Humour" to classify this post. Rohan Pinto has given us an example of how old proverbs can be still relevant in this era of "blogging", in this case "Aa Bail Mujhe Maar". Do read Madhu's hilarious, sarcastic reply, which Pinto tries to pass off as "Madhu has taken this in such good stride".
I know, I know, this is old news. I just could not help myself. Come on, something like this had to be blogged!
